 Our Volunteer Providers

Clínica Amistad is made possible by its all volunteer staff of licensed medical professionals that include:

• Primary Care Providers (MDs, NPs, PAs)
• Registered Nurses (RNs)
• Acupuncture Practitioners
• Chiropractors
• Physical Therapists
• Psychological Counselors
• ​Nutritional Educators

All volunteers are strongly encouraged to have a yearly tuberculosis skin test, or a chest X-ray every five years. All practitioners must have active Arizona licenses.

Our Volunteer Staff

​Clínica also utilizes aspiring  health professionals many of whom are students at the University of Arizona, giving them important experience and exposure to the clinical setting. Our volunteers are trained to record vital signs, manage medical records and shadow health care providers. They also develop skills in Spanish-English medical interpretation.

Our Needs

Clínica Amistad offers a wonderful opportunity to serve alongside a dedicated group of people who have sustained this unique effort in Tucson since 2003. We are a small organization where each volunteer has a chance to make a difference in the quality of care provided to some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
For staffing, the clinic particularly needs:

• Licensed Physicians
• Physician Assistants
• Nurse Practitioners
• Nurses
• Mental Health Counselors
• Acupuncturists
• Physical Therapists
• Massage and Energy Practitioners

We also regularly seek volunteers who can assist with grant writing and fundraising in addition to bilingual (Spanish) volunteers who serve as interpreters for providers and/or assist with patient education.

A typical night at the clinic

On a typical night, volunteers include:

• Two to five health care practitioners (Medical Doctor, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner)
• Nurses and other staff to assist with vitals
• A Triage Counselor
• An Acupuncturist twice a month
• A Massage and Energy Therapist once a month
• A Health Educator once a month
• Four to five volunteer front desk and medical record workers
• One to five interpreters and helpers
